Formerly know as the Tennessee Interior Design Coalition,

TN IDEA is continuing the mission to advance the profession of Interior Design

through Education and Advocacy throughout the state of Tennessee.

March 31, 2017

This has been in the works for a while now, (we appreciate your patience) and we are thrilled to offer this opportunity to our Tennessee Interior Design Community!

So how does it work?!

A part of the mission of TN IDEA is to advance the profession of Interior design, and to promote the pathway to Registration within the State of Tennessee.  That path includes the completion of several milestones, one of which is the NCIDQ exam.  To promote this portion of our mission, the Student Leader Award for NCIDQ Tuition (SLANT) is a merit-based award provided by the Tennessee IDEA Coalition to graduating seniors and graduate students in Tennessee Interior Design and Interior Architecture programs.  The award covers the cost of the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) application fee and the ID Fundamentals Practicum (IDFX) test and will be paid directly to NCIDQ on the recipient’s behalf. (No out-of-pocket money is required for award recipients!  If the student has already paid for the examination, a reimbursement can be made with proof of payment by the deadline given below.)

Tennessee IDEA will be offering up to seven (7) scholarships for the 2017 year depending the quantity and quality of the applications received.  For additional eligibility and application requirements, please see below.

Eligibility and Application requirements:

1. A current undergraduate Senior or Graduate degree candidate enrolled an Interior Design or Interior Architecture program at one of the following Tennessee schools (ETSU, MTSU, O'More, UT Chattanooga, UT Knoxville, University of Memphis, or Watkins)

2. A member of TN IDEA (Student and Recent graduate membership rate to join TN IDEA is $10).  Become a member here:

3.  Completion of the SLANT Application with required attachments.

4. Minimum 3.0 GPA (Transcript Confirmation Required.  Please provide with your SLANT application.)

Additionally, the application requires a resume, your most recent transcript, and several essay questions. There is a place to upload an optional portfolio, but not including one will not count against you!!
